NFL referees are back!

Referee Gene Steratore turned on his microphone to greet the captains of the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens for the pre-game coin toss Thursday night.  "Good evening, men," Steratore said.  "It's good to be back".  The stadium erupted in a roar. Steratore and his seven-man crew donned their familiar stripes for the first game of Week 4 after three weeks of replacement officials created moments of chaos throughout the league.
A lockout of the league's regular officials ended late Wednesday, two days after a disputed touchdown catch on the last play of "Monday Night Football" brought debate over the use of the replacements to a fevered pitch nationwide.  The Seattle Seahawks were awarded the score - and a 14-12 win - over the Green Bay Packers, a result that Commissioner Roger Goodell acknowledged "may have pushed the parties further along" in the talks.
Once the game started Thursday night, for a change everyone was on all sides was happy to see the familiar faces they usually love to boo.

Giants clinch NL West title

Madison Bumgarner pitched San Francisco to its second NL West title in three years and newcomer Marco Scutaro had three hits and three RBIs in the Giants 8-4 win over the San Diego Padres on Saturday night. The Giants captured their eighth divisional crown - wrapping it up once again with a victory over the Padres in front of their home fans, just as they did on the season's final day in 2010 on the way to an improbable World Series championship.Brandon Belt homered leading off the eighth to give the sellout crown of 42,418 one more thing to stand and cheer about in a season full of such moments.  The real party began after Sergio Romo retired John Baker on a fly ball to center to end it.  Fireworks shot off behind the main centerfield scoreboard as the players rushed to the mound and began bouncing up and down.

Is there a full moon?

After four games both teams are undefeated and playing strong.
